RAFAEL LEONIDAS TRUJILLO - DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina (October 24, 1891–May 30, 1961) ruled the Dominican Republic from 1930 until his assassination in 1961. Officially, he was President only from 1930 to 1938, and again from 1942 to 1952. His brother Hector Trujillo was President from 1952-60, and it was only under pressure from the Organization of American States that a non-relative, Trujillo ally Joaquin Balaguer, succeeded Hector. For more than 30 years, Rafael Trujillo and his family held absolute power on the Dominican side of the island of Hispaniola. Popularly, he was known as "El Jefe" (The Chief), but he was privately referred to as "Chapitas" -- literally, "bottlecaps" -- because of his indiscriminate use of medals. Dominican children emulated El Jefe by constructing toy medals from bottle caps. His tyranny, historically known as "La Era de Trujillo" or "The Trujillo Era", is considered one of the bloodiest of the 20th century, as well as a time of a classic personality cult, when the monuments to Rafael Trujillo were in abundance.

JOSEPH STALIN - RUSSIA / USSR

December 6] 1878[1] – March 5, 1953), better known by his adopted name, Joseph Stalin (alternatively transliterated Josef Stalin), was General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union's Central Committee from 1922 until his death in 1953. Although Stalin's formal position originally had little significant influence, his office being nominally but one of several Central Committee Secretariats, Stalin's increasing control of the Party from 1928 onwards led to his becoming the de facto party leader and the dictator of his country[2], in full control of the Soviet Union and its people. His crash programs of industrialization and collectivization in the 1930s and his campaigns of political repression cost the lives of millions of people.
Under Stalin's leadership, the Soviet Union played a decisive role in the defeat of Nazi Germany in the Second World War (1939-45) and went on to achieve the status of superpower, expanding its territory to a size similar to that of the former Russian empire.

MARCOS PEREZ JIMENEZ - VENEZUELA

Marcos Pérez Jiménez (April 25, 1914 – September 20, 2001) was a soldier and President of Venezuela from 1952 to 1958.
Marcos Evangelista Pérez Jiménez was born in Michelena, Táchira State. His father Juan Pérez Bustamante was a farmer and his mother Adela Jiménez a schoolteacher. He attended school in his home town and Colombia, and graduated from the Military Academy of Venezuela at the top of his class in 1934. He subsequently studied at military colleges in Peru.
In 1945, he participated in a coup that helped install Rómulo Betancourt (from the Democratic Action party), as President of the Revolutionary Government Junta. In 1947 free elections were held and Rómulo Gallegos was elected. In 1948, he participated in another coup under the leadership of Lt. Col. Carlos Delgado Chalbaud, a graduate of France's military academy, that ousted Gallegos due to the excesive partidism and populism of his government. From November 24, 1948 until 1952, Venezuela was ruled by a military junta headed by Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Delgado Chalbaud, that included Pérez. On November 13, 1950, Delgado Chalbaud was murdered. The junta elected attorney Germán Suárez as provisional president, but the real power behind him was Pérez. In 1952 general elections were held which the government did not recognize and Pérez became president of Venezuela. During his tenure, Venezuela was transformed into the most modern nation in Latin America.

BENITO MUSSOLINI - ITALY

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini (July 29, 1883 – April 28, 1945) was the prime minister of Italy from 1922 until 1943, when he was overthrown. He established a fascist regime that valued nationalism, militarism and anti-communism combined with strict censorship and state propaganda. Mussolini became a close ally of German dictator Adolf Hitler, whom he influenced. Mussolini entered World War II in June 1940 on the side of Nazi Germany. Three years later, the Allies invaded Italy and occupied most of southern Italy. In April 1945, Mussolini attempted to escape to Austria, only to be captured and killed near Lake Como by partisans. His body was brought to Milan where it was hung upside down and mocked by crowds of people.

ROBERT MUGABE - ZIMBABWE

Robert Gabriel Mugabe KCB (born on February 21, 1924) is the President of Zimbabwe.[1] He has been the head of government in Zimbabwe since 1980, first as Prime Minister[2] and later as first executive President.
He rose to prominence in the 1970s as Marxist leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union in guerrilla warfare against the white-dominated government of Rhodesia in the Bush War (1964-1979).
The Mugabe administration has been criticised around the world for corruption, suppression of political opposition, mishandling of land reform, economic mismanagement, and deteriorating human rights in Zimbabwe. According to most analysts his administration's policies have led to economic collapse and massive starvation over the course of the last ten years. Zimbabwe has the highest inflation rate in the world[3] predicted to hit 1.5 million % by the end of 2007,[4] and is, according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Africa's worst economic performer.[5] With a record 85 % unemployment and ~8000 % inflation rates,[6] Zimbabwe is in its worst economic crisis since Mugabe took power.[7] His government has been accused of being racist by among others British Foreign Office Minister Peter Hain[8], senior Zimbabwean Roman Catholic bishops[9] and John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York[10].
Nevertheless to many in Africa, even to those who would like him to relinquish power, Mugabe remains a hero of the fight for independence.[11][12]
